To be a community that loves God and loves others as Christ has loved us. John 13:34-35
We believe Christ’s transformative love is the truth our world seeks, and as ‘bridges’ we’re connecting people from all walks of life to the message of the cross: both here in the Silicon Valley area and in the Third World countries that need Him most. So whether you want to know more about Christianity, or you seek a place to deepen your relationship with Him, we invite you to make Bridgeway your home. Life happens, and though we don’t have all the answers that come along with it, what we do know is that God loves us. It is a truth so strong and so powerful, that we willingly build our lives upon it each day.
worshipping: purpose
We love God because He first loved us. God demonstrated His love for us on the cross, and proved His ability to meet our every need. He redeemed us by His grace, and opened the door for us to go to Him in all circumstances and at all times. The more we come to know Him, the more we see how great He truly is and how much we fall short of His glory. Our response is to humbly worship and give our hearts to God. If we become caught up in the doing and not in this loving, we can easily forget our purpose is simply to worship Him. Therefore, we strive to continually attune ourselves to Him in prayer, for in so doing, we are reminded that His love is the sustenance we need to make it through each day. (John 4:19-26, 1 John 4, Deut 4:4-6, John 21, 1 Cor 15:10, Eph 2:8-9, 1 Thess 5:17)
sending: mission
God’s passion is to heal the nations, that all peoples may come to know Him. His action plan is for His people to be the messengers of His gospel. God invites us into His redeeming work, sending us into our communities and to the ends of the earth. The natural outgrowth of our experiencing His mercy is a desire to tell the world of this good news. We commit to going where He leads, sending who He requires, and praying for those He seeks. We make this our life’s mission because we know our eternal dwelling place is with Him in heaven. There, every tribe and nation will be worshipping God together in perfect and beautiful harmony. And there we will see Him face to face. (Matt 28:19-20, Rom. 10:13-15, Rev. 7:9-10, 2 Cor 5:1-4, John 14:1-6)
equipping: discipleship
We are all called to be ministers of the gospel. For this reason, it is our responsibility as the body of Christ to mature and equip ourselves with His word. Together, we are committed to collectively studying and applying the Bible into our lives: internalizing the good news that we may be prepared to give an answer to whomever we meet. (1 Peter 2:9, Eph 4:14-16, 2 Tim 4:2, 1 Peter 3:15)
loving: ministry
God is love. Through the cross, we understand what love is as well as how to love. It shows His passionate love for us even while we were yet sinners. Though we may continually fail to love Him in return, He loves us unconditionally and persistently offers His forgiveness. Therefore, we want to love one another in the same way. For when we have heart and compassion for one another, we can learn to love and forgive each other and begin to form authentic relationships. Most importantly, we can work together to passionately love beyond our inner circles to reach those who need God’s love the most. (John 13:34-35, John 15:13, Gal. 2:20, Rom. 5:8, Eph. 4:15)
